Well done Year 11! | Press Release
Our congratulations go out to Year 11 as this year saw pupils at King Edward VI Handsworth School for Girls achieve another fantastic set of GCSE examination results, with 71% of all grades being awarded an A*/A or equivalent 7-9 grades. A third of all grades this year were awarded an A*, grade 8 or 9. Nearly a fifth of the cohort gained A* or A grades in all the subjects they entered; half of the year group achieved a benchmark of 9 grades awarded at A/A*. Two girls achieved 12 A*/9/8 grades: Tiah Shepherd and Madeleine Upham, with a further five girls achieving 10 A*/9/8 grades: Elisabeth Ansell, Zaynab Cheema, Grace Isherwood, Hafsah Mahmood and Fazna Rahman. These are individual successes and it must be acknowledged that the whole year group has a great deal to celebrate as behind every set of examination results there is a personal story of hard work, commitment and perseverance which we are keen to celebrate.
Headmistress Mrs Whittall said “We are delighted with these results which reflect dedication and commitment from the staff and girls. There has been much uncertainty surrounding the new qualifications and these results are particularly pleasing in that context. The whole school is delighted with the achievements of the girls and wishes them every success as they continue their studies”
