The Library and the Scholastic Book Fair | Newsletter

Thank you to everyone who made a purchase from the Scholastic Book Fair and to the Pupil Librarians for their excellent customer service. We sold over £500 worth of books and stationery resulting in just over £200 worth of free books for the Library. The event began with a competition for five students to each win a £5 voucher to spend at the Fair courtesy of Scholastic. This year our competition celebrated the release of the 2019 Carnegie Medal long list. Participants answered questions based on the blurb and first pages of the books which were displayed on the Library notice-board. The winners were then drawn randomly from the entries with the most correct answers.

Our Pupil Librarians also continue to work hard at their day to day duties and are due to complete the next badge stage of their training during the Summer term, the first badge for our new members of the team.  The Librarians’ hard work and dedication in giving up their free time allows the rest of the student population to find and access resources much more easily.

The Carnegie Medal nominations are now down to the short list and Book Club have begun to ‘shadow’ by reading the books and voicing their opinions. You can read their reviews and vote for your favourites on our shadowing website at https://www.carnegiegreenaway.org.uk/reading-groups.php. Just scroll down to find our reading group.
