Alumni

Our former students are a key source of support to current students. The insights that they have gathered, from their Post-18 destination, higher education and the world of work, are extremely valuable. We are therefore keen to hear from any former students who would like to “pass it on”.

We invite back alumnae for various events through the year, and to present at prize-givings. Through this we have been able to provide mock MMI practice for budding medics, dentists and vets, as well as panel interviews for Year 13s more generally. We try, as far as possible, to buddy up Oxbridge interviewees with alumnae currently at these two universities. Students who have gone on to Apprenticeships have given talks to interested students in the 6th Form, and in July each year we also bring back around 15 former students, from a range of destinations and courses, who lead a presentation and Q&A session for Year 12.

King Edward VI Handsworth School for Girls welcomes support from the alumnae network. It may well be years since you left school, but the things you have learnt since you left and the career path you have taken are of great interest to the staff and students who are here now. King Edward VI Handsworth might know which university you planned to go to, or which industry you hoped to work in, but it’s unlikely we know more about what you’ve been up to since you left – we want that to change. Please inlcude your Education as a student at the school to your LinkedIn profile, this will add you to the alumni member list.
